What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related concerns and conditions.
The procedure uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface to gently sand away the thick outer layer of the skin to rejuvenate it. Microdermabrasion is considered a safe procedure for most skin types and colors.
Our new approach for this treatment uses a diamond-tip wand that is gently moved across your skin to exfoliate.
Microdermabrasion can be used for the following:
Reducing the appearance of wrinkles
Removing acne scars
Clearing up blackheads
Minimizing the size of the pores
Reducing sun damage
Evening out skin tone
What to expect at your visit
Firstly, your skin will be assessed and also your suitability for this treatment. Each treatment will last about a half hour. You may feel a mild scratching as the procedure removes the superficial skin cells. Additionally, you’ll notice a vibrating sensation akin to a massage. There is also a suction mechanism to lift off the dead skin. The treatment is painless.
Common minor, temporary side effects include slight skin tightness, redness and sensitivity.
Many patients see dramatic improvements in the tone, texture, and color of treated areas after just one treatment. The benefits of microdermabrasion also include enhanced circulation and lymph flow, which promote the internal health of the skin.
