What is Excel V?
The Excel V Laser System is a new and state-of-the-art laser technology for treating vascular skin conditions such as pigmentation/brown spots, acne scarring, thread veins, facial redness/rosacea and small leg veins.
Used in all the top dermatology clinics and known as the most powerful and sophisticated laser on the market. The Excel V offers two different lasers at 532nm and 1064nm each targeting different skin concerns. In addition, the treatment settings can be customized by depth and according to your skin tone to ensure an optimal outcome.
What does it treat?
Sun damage
Pigmentation
Cherry Angioma
Rosacea
Broken Capillaries
Diffused redness
Small veins & leg veins
Poiklioderma
How does it work?
When treating pigmentation, the Excel V uses wavelengths of light through pulses on the skin. The skins pigment naturally absorbs the light, causing the cells to disperse and flake or blend away while leaving the surrounding skin tissue unharmed.
When treating vascular conditions and small capillaries, the laser is used to coagulate and collapse the vein whilst dispersing redness.
Who is it suitable for?
This procedure can be used to treat both the face and body for men and women. The settings can be adjusted to suit different skin tones, providing a versatile treatment that works for most patients.
What can I expect in my treatment?
A typical Excel V treatment takes less than half an hour. Usually topical anesthetic is not needed for this gentle procedure. You simply feel warmth as the handpiece is passed over the treatment area, and possibly a slight stinging sensation as light pulses enter the skin. Then skin is cleansed, cooled with ice packs, and protected with sunscreen.
What is the recovery time?
Expect redness in the treatment sites for 24 hours and swelling may occur for 1-2 days. Use ice packs as needed to the treatment sites until this clears.
A “bug bite”, welt or hive-like appearance may occur and will resolve within 1-3 days.
Bruising may occur but will resolve with time.
The treated pigment will turn darker (brown to black) within 24-48 hours. -Do not pick at treated areas and those on the face will exfoliate off in approximately 1 week and off the body in approximately 2-3 weeks.
Avoid heat including exercise, hot tubs/saunas and direct sun exposure for 48 hours.
Avoid skin irritants such as skin care products with vitamin C, tretinoin, retinol, glycolic/salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, astringents etc. until redness/swelling clears.
Wash treatment sites with a gentle cleanser and use a gentle moisturizer until redness/swelling clears.
Continue to apply a broad-spectrum SPF #30 sunscreen daily and avoid excessive sun exposure to prevent further sun damage.
Makeup may be worn unless crusting develops.
